#WE can: Gender Equality in the making

I’m still buzzing from the first meeting of the Women’s Equality Party in Bath, last night. A room full of women, and men, passionate about achieving gender equality, and so very articulate on the subject, felt empowering and significant. It felt like a little bit of gender equality history in the making.

An impressive spectrum of ages and backgrounds, we were split into groups to discuss what we wanted from the party and how equality was important to us. There were young men and women who were WAY more eloquent,  impassioned and politically aware than I have been for most of my life. They were a complete joy to listen to. Everybody was.  The room just hummed with possibility.

The suggestion of changing the party name to something more gender neutral was floated. I’d like to say I floated it, but somebody beat me to it. A relief; not just that I…
