Does a double standard exist with domestic violence cases?

Former New Orleans Saints linebacker Junior Gallette is expected to visit the Washington Redskins Thursday, according to multiple sources. The Saints released Gallette after video surfaced of him swinging a belt at two women during a melee brawl in Miami in 2013. In January, Gallette was arrested after he allegedly beat his 22 year-old girlfriend, although the case was dismissed and charges were never filed. Still, the Saints chose to release Gallette earlier this week, less than one year after he inked a $41.5 million extension with the team.
Over the past year, domestic violence issues have plagued the NFL. However, when it comes to the resurrection of careers, there seems to be a double standard in regards to how other teams approach these situations.
