Change may come to $20 bill in 2020

Andrew Jackson opposed paper currency. So why is he on the $20 bill? A few women in New York are trying to change that.

In honor of the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment, which gave women the right to vote in America, a group called Women on 20s is encouraging President Barack Obama to change the picture on the $20 bill from Jackson to a notable woman in American history by 2020.

Susan Andes Stone, spokeswoman for Women on 20s, said 2020 would be the perfect year to implement the currency change.

“There hasn’t been a change of the portraits since 1929 and we were such a different country than we were then,” Andes Stone said. “We’re a more diverse country, we’re more inclusive and our money should reflect that. Our money says…
